Do people celebrate NYE in Embarcadero in San Francisco?

  • I want to celebrate the NYE and have the 2010 countdown in Embarcadero. This is my first and my last time to celebrate NYE in the US, and I want to make it memorable. So, someone told me that people usually celebrate the NYE in Embarcadero, and I'm not so sure what is going on there. In addition, I don't wanna go to clubs or bars, i want to do it outside. Please advice me. Thankssssssssssss

    This year's event is still to be announced according to the Port Authority's schedule sheet on-line. Apparently the port has not given approval for the event yet. http://www.sfgov.org/site/port_index.asp?id=30578 Also, you can check from time to time in order to see if there is any mention about it in the local San Francisco newspaper below. http://www.sfgate.com/

thats where their tree is and i think they celebrate there around it like in any city

Yep! They definitely do it there. It's sort of similar to the celebration in Times Square in New York City, but obviously on a smaller scale in the Embarcadero.
