What Are the Best Thrift Stores in San Francisco?

  • Hi, I'm going to be in San Francisco from this Wednesday the 4th to Monday the 9th. What I would like to know is what are some of the biggest and best thrift stores in San Francisco has to offer that carry not just clothes but a little bit of something for everyone (electronics, furniture, CDs, bric-a-brac etc...) So far I have heard about Thrift Town and The Community Thrift Store, but that is all that I know of so far. If any locals or people who have had positive experiences with Thrift Stores in San Francisco would be willing to offer their opinions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    You've been given the names of the two biggest/best thrift stores which is a good place to start. The Mission neighborhood has a lot of thrift stores and is a great neighborhood to explore. Someone else mentioned the Haight which also has several decent thrift stores thought the neighborhood itself leaves MUCH to be desired IMO. Goodwill has several stores scattered around the city with the largest being at So. Van Ness and Mission Street. Another neighborhood that offers a good selection of thrift stores is the Upper Fillmore [Fillmore between Post and Jackson] a large Goodwill store, and thrift stores that support the Jr. League, Opera and Symphony with donations from the folks who live in Pacific Heights and have lots money to burn.
