What is Dasara celebration?

Is there any celebration in San Francisco, CA that celebrates all latino/hispanics?

  • My roots are from Central America and I was wondering is there a celebration in San Francisco, Ca that celebrates my culture and stuff like this? Because somewhere this week there was a Filipino celebration called "Pistahan." Is there any celebration were kids and adults are welcomed to got. Also it should be an important one, most common celebration here were i live. Thanks!(:

  • Answer:

Carnaval is the largest "pan-Hispanic" celebration. It is held concurrently with the Memorial Day weekend. Cinco de Mayo and Dia de los Muertos (November 2) are a big deal in San Francisco. But these holidays are specifically geared towards Mexican culture. As is the case with all San Francisco street fairs, everyone is welcomed. Though Central and South Americans may care more about the food and music than the cultural significance of the event.
