How old do you have to be to work in california?and where can i get a job in merced?

I think at least 16 (not sure at all!) but most works prefer 18. My boss told me once that he prefers to hire people with 18 already because in the company there's some stuff that must have be handle by people above 18 years. You know all store directors, managers, supervisors want to avoid sues as much as possible. But you should try asking in some fast-foods restaurants to see if they hire people with at least 16 or 17. With a Student Workers Permit you can work at the age of 15 and Half. You can work after schools hows only during the school year, and not past 10 pm. By law. You will mostlikely be able to find a job in retail since they are always looking for people. Then your other chose is in restaurants. Be sure to have a CA ID/DL and a SS card. You will need 2 proofs of employment when you get hired.
