Is SANTA ROSA a nice place to live?
-
I've been offered a job in Santa Rosa and was curious to know if it was a good place to live. Can anyone tell me about Santa Rosa? From what I understand it is an hour north of San Francisco. So I'm wondering what are some good and bad things about living there (ie. crime). Is it a good place for someone who is single in their late 20's with lots of things to do (ie. nightlife, shopping, sightseeing, activities, diversity, nightclubs, ect.)? Anyways, I wanted to get an idea of whether or not Santa Rosa was a good place to move to. So what are some of the good and bad things about that city?

Answer:
Santa Rosa is a very nice place to live. It's kind of old-fashioned, friendly, laid back. It;s a good place for families. If you want night life go into the city (San Fran).

It has around 150,000 people and has access to the country. There are places to visit like Petaluma, Sebastopol, Russian River, the Sonoma coast. More scenic than San Francisco. There are a lot of small towns nearby where you could live. The rents are about half of San Francisco. The people in Sonoma county are friendly. There are some areas where there are gangs but you can find out first and avoid living there. It has shopping, culture, some diversity. I dont know about clubs for young people. I think it is a good city to live in. I lived in Rohnert Park near Sonoma State University. The climate is cooler in winter and warmer in summer than S.F. because it is not near any body of water.

Santa Rosa is a nice medium-size city. There are lots of activities in the area. I don't know if the nightlife is all that great. I would not hesitate to live in Santa Rosa.

I live near Santa Rosa and go there often. Santa Rosa is a great small city with a lot of good shopping, a cool ice skating rink(Snoopy's), a nice small airport that has flights to LA, Las Vegas, and Oregon. Santa Rosa is close to the pacific ocean(about 30 minute drive), close to San Francisco and close to the Napa Valley too. The price of a nice 3 bdrm home is about $500,000 maybe less. They also have a state college near(Sonoma State). Highway 101 runs through Santa Rosa which will take you to the top of California,& to Southern California. I would not hesitate one minute to live in Santa Rosa.

Flower has a good answer. It really depends on where you're coming from and what you're used to. If you're coming from a big city with a lot of clubs then you'll probably get bored. If you're coming from a similar or smaller town then it will be fine. There is a small downtown area with a number of bars. As always, it depends on what style of place you like though.
