Acting classes for older teens in the SF bay area?
-
I'm 18 years old and I just finished my first semester of college. Since I'm at a community college and there are people of different ages and backgrounds, it's kind of difficult to find new friends my age (or close to my age). I'm interested in acting and singing and I've been looking for some classes that I can take that are for older teens (as young as 14 and as old as 21). Most of the classes at theaters that I find online are for ages 13-18, but it specifically says that they are for students currently enrolled in high school. I'm going to turn 19 in March 2012, and the usual cut-off for teen years is age 18. I'd rather not take classes with adults 30+ since I'm already around them everyday at school (nothing wrong with people 30+, though =D). If anyone could suggest good programs in the San Francisco Bay Area that include my age group, that would be great! Thanks in advance.

Answer:
The Young Conservatory at the American Conservatory Theater in SF has an excellent program for ages 8 to 19. Obviously, there are separate classes for separate ages, so you wouldn't be working with an 8-year-old while in class; but maybe in performance. They do a LOT of performances. I highly recommend them. (In the interest of full disclosure, I teach at ACT.)
