Where to stay (hotel) if going to UC Berkeley in May?

  • We are going to my cousin's graduation in May at UC Berkeley, and we'll like some feedback on hotels or areas where to stay for the weekend of May 11-13. My uncle is staying in La Quinta Inn Oakland. He said that they provide a shuttle to the train or bus station. And from there he would get to campus. He said parking at campus is expensive and sometimes you can't even find any. Any help of which hotel is nice and not so expensive? and maybe with a free shuttle.

    My parents always stay at the Double Tree hotel in the Berkeley Marina. It's a great hotel!

There are many hotels in Oakland that are cheap. Just make sure the hotel offers a shuttle to any BART station, so you can get to campus. I have stayed at the Doubletree in Berkeley Marina and the Courtyard Marriott Oakland. They would both work fine.

You might find it cheaper to stay in the East Bay along the yellow line and use BART to get into Berkeley. For example there's an embassy suites right next to the Pleasant Hill BART station.
