How old do you have to be to fly into san francisco alone?

  • im 15 years old, and im planning on flying into sfo to see family. my mom is going tommorow morning, but i have school so i cant go. my younger sister is 13, and were planning on flying tommorow afternoon. what do they flight attendents do for minors? is it okay for a 13 year old to fly alone with a 15 year old?

    I am always surprised that parents so often leave it to the kids to get this information. Most airlines will allow children over 14 to fly unaccompanied...some allow kids 12 and over. Your parents need to call the airline you will be using and ask if your sister will be allowed to travel with you without being considered an unaccompanied minor.

Why don't you go together with your mom in the morning? The world won't end if you miss one day ONLY at school to go with your mom. If I were your mom I will take you with me in the morning...period! Your mom should call the airline or check the website to read the policy about minor passengers traveling alone. Good luck

Each airline has different rules. Frontier will let a 15 yr old fly alone and a 13 yr old fly with a 15 yr old.

you need to be older than five to fly and 15 to not be considered an "unnocompanied minor". (proof in my source)

11 years and older they don't consider you a *Minor* in the airport. If your Parent(s) want to pay extra for you have an attendant keep and eye on you and escort you to your next flight then they can do that. But you are old enough to fly on your own
