Are there any really old hospitals in San Diego?

Clean and Safe hospitals in the San Diego and Carlsbad area- I'm vacationing and pregnant. read on please?

  • I’m 18 weeks pregnant, and have been given the clear from my OB to take a family vacation to San Diego. I wanted to have addresses and phone numbers to the area hospitals in the event that I needed to seek medical attention due to pregnancy problems. I have never been to San Diego or the general area, and I wanted to hear from those of you who have/currently live there- What hospitals are the safest/cleanest that you would suggest in the immediate San Diego area and Carlsbad? I have Blue Cross if that helps any. Thank you for your help. :)

    Scripps Mercy Hospital is the best/closest to San Diego. I had my son there and have had 2 E.R. visits and their staff, service, cleanliness, etc..........AMAZING! Never in my life have I been to a better all around hospital. It is located at 4077 5th Ave neer Washington St. in the Hillcrest subdivision here is their #(619) 294-8111

Scripps Green Hospital is great! Stay away from Palomar Hospital, we haven't had good experiences there and it sure wasn't clean, nor was the care exceptional like it is in any Scripps facility. Here is their website and the locations. If you need a good obgyn while in the area, Dr. Gail Sowa is a Scripps doc and I highly recommend her, though all of the docs at Scripps are excellent. All of the hospitals take Blue Cross--I checked before I went on it. The woman's hospital in San Diego is Sharp Mary Birch. That said, any of the Scripps hospitals will be fine. UCSD has a good e.r. You can find all three online.
