How much money would you need in san diego for six weeks?

  • preferably in euro but estimations are welcome

  • Answer:

Too many variables - where you want to stay, if you would be renting a car... figure out where you will be staying and what you want to do/see and go from there. For a long stay of 6 weeks I would get a hotel with a kitchenette or an apartment/flat rather than a regular hotel room. Residence Inn's are a good place to stay throughout the US for an extended stay, I have attached a site. The dollar is very weak at present so your money will go far. I'd say you should probably bring a couple of thousand - once you work out where you are staying, then you can budget.

Depending on where you stay, 150 dollars a night for lodging or 1050 a week. 50 dollars a day for meals or 350 dollars a week 35 dollars a day for a rental car...essential in a city with inadequate public transportation or 245 dollars a week 30 dollars a week for gasoline 10 dollars a day or 70 dollars a week for incidentals 250 dollars a week for entertainment 250 + 70+ 30+245 +350 +1050 or about 1995 a week, round up to 2000 dollars a week should make for a quite satisfying stay.

This is a demanding question. As one of the other respondents, said, there are too many variables. Where are you staying? Will you have a kitchen? Will you be seeing friends who might be possibly feeding you. The Euro rate is too variable to give that to you, too. So I will give you your answer in dollars. You will have to add the numbers as there are over 100 different possible outcomes. These are DAILY numbers, except for the car rental. Accommodation: Figure about $50 for a cheap motel or $250 for a nice hotel room. For a kitchenette add about $25. Food: For three meals of fast food (not recommended), about $20 per person. In a coffee shop, $30 per day. In a nice restaurant, about $75 a day. Transportation: Car rental about $300 per week, plus gasoline and insurance. Public Transportation, for a day pass it's about five dollars a day (there are monthly passes, too). Taxis are too expensive to consider. Those are the bare essentials for survival. You will probably need a lot more money than this for the time you are in San Diego. Good luck!

You'll spend well over a grand a week unless you sit in your room. Probably more. Figure two thousand per week and you'll be comfortable. Enjoy, and thanks for helping our crappy economy!

You would need, approximately, all of it.
