Cheap places to spend in the night in San Diego, CA?

  • I am planning on making a trip to San Diego, CA, one night only, but it seems as though all of the motels are really expensive. Is there any place down there that is particularly cheap that is not well known? I'd really prefer not to spend so much money on one night, even if it's a town just outside San Diego.

    Stay in a hostel! Seriously, its not like the movie! Very cheap and you meet lots of new people. I did it in Hawaii and will definitely do it again.
