Where is the best place to find parking for the US Open Sandcastle Competition in Imperial Beach (San Diego)?

  • The 27th Annual US Open Sand Castle Competition is going to be held July 28 and 29th in Imperial Beach. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best places to find parking during this event?

    I used to live in San Diego and would just park in the neighborhoods a little south and east. It was only a 5 minute walk, but yes, the parking is HORRIBLE there. Really hard to find a close spot. It's fun to walk past all the barbeques and neighborhood parties going on though while going to/from your parking spot. Sorry to not be of more help.

You can park close by there on the street, it's a bit of a hike, but you're better off taking the bus down there. Oh and you'll see the "Yost Boards" they use in "John From Cincinatti". Not sure if they're filming any of the show that weekend. Comic-Con is also going on at the same time.

I say show up at about 7am and hope to get parking near by, if not park at the Palm Ave Trolley station and take the bus in. The bus 933 and the 934 go in that direction.

just park down in any of those side streets by the houses--you won't have far to walk to the beach. or even park by one of the main drags, like coronado ave or palm ave--the city bus goes to the beach from those streets. have fun!
