I want to go to San Diego this weekend; What hotel will be really cool and hip in downtown gaslamp district?
-
So I am thinking about going to San Diego this weekend. I want to visit all the attractions including the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park, Lego Land, Old town, North County, etc... I was reading the San Diego Union Tribune travel section. I am thinking about staying in San Diego's Gaslamp District and going out to eat at some restaurants. I was told the Convention Center may have some events going on, and that I should check out www.Signonsandiego.com for more information. We might even try to catch a San Diego Chargers NFL Footlball game if we stay long enough. I think I definitely will check out San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, which has been Providing information for visitors, meeting planners and travel agents including events calendar, restaurant listings and other news. www.sandiego.org/. I really want to stay at a Boutique hotel downtown San Diego in the Gaslamp Quarter. My friend told me to check out this new hotel called The Keating Hotel. There website looks beautiful www.thekeating.com. She told me it was the Ferrari of hotels, and is the new happening place. She described it like it was a piece of art. I want to stay somewhere fun, cool, and hip. And she has never failed me before on recommendations. She also told me to visit Coronado, where the famous Hotel Del Coronado is located. San Diego seems like it has so much to offer, and I really am excited to get down and check out all the beaches and attractions. Does anyone recommend any other places to visit besides Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Lego Land, Old Town, Coronado, Gaslamp Quarter.... Any other ideas?

Answer:
I haven't stayed at The Keating but have heard good things. Another Gaslamp Hotel that's suppose to be great is the Ivy. This hotel has a very popular nightclub called Envy. Guests who stay in the hotel get VIP access to the club. For info and links to this hotel's web site (and other Gaslamp hotels as well) go to: http://www.sandiego-romantics.com/san-diego-lodging.html As far as other recommendations on places to visit, here's some of my favorites: Torrey Pines in La Jolla - great place to hike along the coast Kayak through the 7 La Jolla Caves - you can join a guided tour at many businesses in downtown La Jolla. Go early in the morning for best conditions. Go wine tasting in the area around Escondido or Ramona/Julian. http://www.sandiego-romantics.com/romantic-winery-getaways.html Take a cruise on the bay. Ride the ferry from downtown San Diego to Coronado Island. Enjoy dessert at Extraordinary Desserts. This popular place has 2 locations and is open until midnight on weekends. http://www.extraordinarydesserts.com/ Whatever you do...have fun!
