What are the best beaches in San Diego? and how different are they from East coast beaches?

the best beach in san diego is probably either la jolla shores or pacific beach..the beaches in the east coast are pretty similar to the beaches in san diego, exepct for the beaches in san diego are MUCH warmer :)

I'd say Mission Beach and La Jolla Shores are the best, Coronado's good too though I'd say the only difference to the east coast is the water's colder (at our latitude) and the sun's out more

Coronado City beach is rated one of the top 10 beaches in the world. It is beautiful and clean, and you can also visit the charming town of Coronado CA. La Jolla Shores is one of my favorites, and in the summer you can relax or enjoy some activities like kayaking to the La Jolla Sea Caves, or snorkeling with the leopard sharks. Fun activities, but still pretty laid back. Del Mar City Beach is also very nice, and you can enjoy lunch or dinner at Jake's or Poseidon restaurants, right along the beach. La Jolla Shores. Pacific Beach. Two places that are mostly sunny. It's San Diego so the weather will for the most part be warm. La Jolla is a ritzy tourist place and Pacific Beach has the bars and restaurants to go with the incredible beaches. Coronado has a beach as well. However, it's not as long as the other two. All three places are excellent places to just catch some rays or just do absolutely nothing.
