Where would be great areas to photograph in San Diego?

Best areas of San Diego to live in?

  • my family is has been considering moving for quite a while. it has recently brought up that we move to the san diego area of california. we were curious as to which areas we should consider we would be moving from new jersey, the monmouth county area to be exact. so we would prefer a suburban area we had a great school system, following a september to june schedule (we heard that in san diego they follow a different schedule) we would have one child entering middle school and one entering high school. thank you

Basically, except for Coronado Island, the best schools (as rated by published test scores) are all in North San Diego starting at La Jolla and continuing up the coast. As someone mentioned, schools in Rancho Bernardo, Poway and Penasquitos (all part of the Poway Unified School District) are considered good. The three top High schools in San Diego are Coronado, La Jolla, and Torrey Pines (located in Del Mar). Don't go too far inland (e.g. Escondido) as the school districts tend to be less highly rated. My choices would probably not include Coronado or La Jolla simply because the areas are insanely expensive to buy or rent in. If I could afford it I would go for Torrey Pines (Del Mar) which is still pricey but less so than Coronado or La Jolla, or if I needed to spend less, Rancho Bernardo, Penasqutos, Poway and Scripps Ranch. I don't mean to put down Chula Vista, but the schools and access to the really great San Diego beaches just aren't there. If need even more detailed information, just post here.

The only places w/great school districts are areas in Coronado, La Jolla, and Poway unified. All of them follow the traditional school year (End Aug to early June). I personally would recommend Pennasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Mountain areas (Poway unified) as the other areas w/great schools are way more pricey.
