Is El Cajon, CA a nice place to live?

    I live in El Cajon, and no it's not really a nice place to live, but there are worse places to live. In San Diego county there is a basic rule. The more northern and western you go in the county away from downtown San Diego, the nicer and more expensive the real estate.

El Cajon is alright, it's not the best or worst part of San diego county.....

Wouldn't recommend it. Its desert hot in the summer and hard to get in and out of on the highways. There are plenty of other affordable and beautiful places to live in San Diego.

It's a little slummy, but there are nice parts when you get away from the freeway. It's also kinda far out. You'd be better off in La Mesa or Lakeside, if you can afford them.

Compared to what, it is inland from the beach. I love San diego as a whole. its near beach and Mexico.

It's an area that has not been economically favored for a while. So the housing there is cheaper than other areas. This also brings in an element of crime. But, much of that area is improving. I would suggest going one hill over to the South. Check out Rancho San Diego. It is cleaner, priced about the same, friendly people. Search the area in zip code 91978. If you go North you're in Santee. Also not too bad and in the path of growth. But I prefer RSD. Good luck!

If you don't mind summers that are hot as hell and the occasinal gang shooting it's ok. I wouldn't live there. And I don't know what part of Mexico it is close to but the ElCajon I know isn't any closer than most of san diego
