You should check out Hotel La Jolla - it's literally right by the beach, and it even has a popular bar and nightclub (Clay's) that features jazz and big band performers if you're looking for fun after the sun goes down and doesn't involve the beach, but you can get panoramic Pacific views from your room or with the band. There are tons of activities nearby that're convenient, like parasailing and jetskiing, and even specials with Starbucks giftcards if you like their coffee. Seriously, it's the best price for the location as well as being a boutique hotel that most expect to be outlandishly priced. Even if you're only in town for business, it's nearby enough to be convenient without being crowded, y'know? And they've even got in-room spa services - they bring the spa to you, even if it's just a massage. Talk about room service! It's worth a look and I doubt you'll be disappointed. It would help if you offered up a general range of prices you'd be willing to pay! What's reasonable/affordable to one person would be totally out-of-budget for another. Also, the words "La Jolla" and "good price" (i.e., reasonably priced -- ~ $100 per night) generally don't show up in the same sentance. La Jolla can be quite expensive, especially right on the beach. Check with Travelocity, Price Line, etc. and see if they are offering any cheap rates.
