Whats the difference between san diego zoo and wild animal park?

    The San Diego Zoo is just that, a zoo. The animals are in cages or enclosed. The Wild Animal Park is more spacious so the animals roam around. The value depends on what you like. If you are going with small children, I would recommend the zoo. They have a couple of double decker buses that you can ride around and see the animals. There are also shows. The Wild Animal Park is more for older children who can appreciate seeing the animals in their "natural" habitat.

Not all the animals are in cages at the SD Zoo they have created areas where the animals roam free in an area including the elephants, giraffes, zebras, deers, etc... only animals that can escape easily (ie small animals) are in cages and even those will be replaced soon if possible. It is in center of Balboa park so close to everything. You can take a bus or walk if you wish. Lots to see and do. Wild Animal Park there is a tram or you can walk freely to some areas. Animals are more in the Wild than in smaller areas. You cannot get quite as close. Similar animals at both locations.

the zoo is just like any other zoo except for the fact that it is world famous. the wild animal park is an open park with a more safari-like set-up, id recommend the wil anima park if you are looking for soemthing new/different, vs. the zoo which is more traditional (not to say it isn't nice also)

San Diego Zoo has limited space so most of the animals are in cages and enclosures. WAP is very large. The animals live in huge areas that are made to appear like their natural range. You walk from exhibit to exhibit at SDZ but ride a tram at WAP

wild animal park has the animals from africa. they both are good and you could get a 2 day pass so could go to both.
