Does Turlock lake, in Northern California have a river connected to it?

Great place in Northern California to tent camp right on, or near a lake?

  • I live in Sacramento and I'm trying to plan a camping trip towards the end of August. The idea is to tent camp right next to a nice river, or lake. Somewhere that gives the feeling of exclusion, yet maybe somewhere where you can do some nice fishing, or swimming. Does anybody have any recommendations?

  • Answer:

Scotts Flat Lake is not far away. They have lots of campsites located right on the lake. It's surrounded by pine trees and is quite nice! More info: http://www.scottsflatlake.net/

definitely lassen national park. Camp by lake manzanita, absolutely stunning and secluded enough that you feel like it is a real old-fashioned camping experience.

Check out Lake Britton or any site in Lassen Park area. Burney Falls is a must see.

Sly Park is right on Jenkinson Lake and you can get some sites right on the lake.
