How do I get a cheap sailboat?

Does anyone know if you can get a sailboat to Sacramento?

  • I am thinking about buying a sailboat or a motor yacht, but I need to know the height limit of the bridges between the SF Bay and Sacramento. Does anyone know this information or where I can get this information? I would prefer a sailboat, however, if it wont make it under the bridges, it's not much use to me. So what's the tallest boat that could reach Sacramento? I would need to get past the I-5 overpass as I live on the Garden highway, that would be the last bridge.

    The answer youre looking for is Yes, you can sail a boat to/from sacramento to the bay and out to sea. Several boats are moored/sliped on the American river and all along the river down to the delta. On line there are nautical charts for free from NOAA. http://www.noaa.gov/charts.html These will show all the bridges, Mean High water clearance. Check for tides also. I think tide tables are published too.
