Secluded camping near Portland?

Secluded spots near portland oregon that would be good for a date?

  • my girlfriend and i are having a little bit of a rough time choosing where to go for a date. we want a nice secluded place where pretty much nobody goes to. maybe a pond/lake/creek or something. even a lookout point would be nice. im thinking within about a forty five minute drive from portland. also we are not afraid to walk a ways into the forest to find a good secluded spot. any suggestions?

Check out the area from Angels Rest to Wahkeena Falls, especially Devils Rest in the gorge. The loop including Wahkeena to Multnomah Falls have few people normally (maybe a few dozen on an especially nice day), but it's easy to find slightly off the path places were few will tread. Same would be true of Eagle Creek (further east in the gorge, near Bonneville): a well used main path with several opportunities to find creative seclusion near it. Even better would be Larch Mountain. Drive to the top, and hike south toward Multnomah Falls (or vice versa). It's quite a ways and few people go through it all the way. If you have access to a boat, Government Island has lots of beach and woods for a sort of noisy but pleasant solitude.

Have a picnic in Forrest Park.:) If you want to get further out of town drive up the Columbia River Gorge to the waterfalls.
