What are some places I must go and things I must do in france?

Things to do, quirky places to go-Portland.?

  • I like to do fun things to surprise my husband,... leave sticky notes everywhere for him to find when he gets home, sometimes I'll put an enveloped note in the mailbox for him to find (loves getting mail + twice as good, he is getting it from me), pick up his favorite drink on the way home to him, make him cheesecake, etc....go on a surprise camping trip if there is time. We also enjoy going to quirky places we have never been to before, eat out at super cheap, good eateries (less than $15 total please-excluding drinks). We are now living in the Portland-metro area. Any suggestions on any fun, quirky places we could visit, super cheap (cool) bars, things to see, places to go? Anything fun I can make at home to surprise him. Aside cleaning or rearranging things. I have done that a lot lately. And please, no 'sexual' ideas, I can come up with those on my own if that is what I was wanting. Also, no cliche things... we have all heard them 100 times. Any truly original ideas would be appreciated. Any really cool part of the city, or building you enjoy, let me know! Thanks.

Voodoo Donuts is a classic portland experience. also try the rocky horror picture show. there's this place called the velveteria on 24th and burnside full of kitschy velvet paintings of elvis and whatnot, along with quality art. i think it's the clinton theatre or something where you can drink beer while you watch a movie. take hallucinogens and go see laser floyd at omsi, blast from the past! go to the brewpub that makes his favorite local beer. ditler is a cool place, it's a beach by airport way on the columbia, beautiful and secluded and 20 minutes from portland. find a really long bike trail and ride it. participate in a flash mob. go tour the shanghai tunnels if they still do that. tag your names in a heart, "4 ever," on a pillar under the fremont bridge. downtown makes for great people watching. the Pied Cow is a cool place on belmont i think, they have food coffee and hookah. also, go to the tea house in the chinese garden in old town. keep an open mind and go to a rave, the people are really friendly, it's not the drugged out teenager scene you would expect. you'll be pleasantly surprised. i know you've heard this one before, but washington park, forest park, and the japanese gardens are very cool places to have a picnic, especially if you explore enough. go to a lecture or classical concert at the schnitz. last thursday street fair on alberta is ****** awesome, there's nothing more portland-y than thousands of art vendors, live music and naked bike jousting. takes place the last thursday of every month on alberta from 10th up. first thursday in the pearl is the same but with more art, and wine instead of beer. and everyone wears clothes. lame. go to the zoo on the 2nd tuesday of the month, it only costs $2. better yet, go zoobombing. go to a drum circle under the hawthorne bridge, they're always cool. oh and don't forget about the vaacum museum. for real, it's at stark's vacuums. it kinda sucks. instead, go to the jupiter hotel on e 8th and burnside, it's very hip and stuff, everyone just raves about it. also, october 1-3 there's an art show for $5 there. oh yeah, go to the pearl and be seen riding a fixed-gear bike in skinny jeans from an art gallery to an indie show at the roseland. you'll be officially cool then. if all else fails, go to old town and taser homeless people.

It's quite a bit out of the way, but I would look into the Stone Cliff Inn I don't know the prices there, but my neighbor took us once and the food was fantastic. Also, there's a bar right near there, called the Rock Garden Tavern. It attracts it's fair amount of "eccentric" people. :)
