Where is good for private camping?

Where is a good place to go camping near Portland, Oregon?

  • Me and a few friends are wanting to go camping for just one night and we aren't wanting to go somewhere you have to pay to get in. Is there anywhere less than an hour out of Troutdale or Gresham that is good for one-night camping and is either free or relatively cheap? Thanks!

    You can try Still Creek Rd. on the right before you cross the little bridge to get to Rhododendron. The road will take you all the way up behind Trillium Lake and has a lot of places off the road to turn into. You will probably have to get a forest pass at the Zigzag ranger station, but it's good for a year. If you're lucky, you may find an empty spot right on the creek.
