What are the taxes in Portland, OR?

Would I do well if I move to Portland with what I have?

• I live in Hawaii and after I get my degree in business I plan to move out of this state. Hawaii's cost of living is very high and its a business hell "tax and law" wise. I have always wanted to move to California but California is the worst state for business and the cost of living is a bit expensive where I want to live (San Jose). I have around 360,000 dollars in cash savings from a very big inheritence I received. I plan to open a business in Portland and buy myself a condo. Now I know there are a few negative things about Portland such as state business taxes which is lower than Hawaii and California, High property taxes but the cost of homes are very affordable compared to Hawaii and San Jose. Cold weather, which I prefer than sticky hot like Hawaii but there are also benefits for business. Oregon was ranked 27th richest state, Has been ranked 42nd worldwide in quality living, has low energy cost, accessible resources and has a convinient location for delivering on a business scale. My professor told me seattle is more business friendly but I have met many people from seattle and its not a very happy place even with the oppurtunities and they would never live in that city again but I have heard many good things about Portland. Infact many people from Portland who come to Hawaii would prefer Portland over Hawaii which is rare because most mainland people like Hawaii better. I am also asian and I heard Oregon is not racist like most states on the mainland so I would feel very comfortable

  $360,000??? wow you could buy three small houses in the outskirts of town for that price,. Yes, with 360,000 you will be okay. Like I would buy two houses,r ent those out for about 850 a month a piece and then find a job with your business degree. if you are going to start a business in portland area? bad bet, IMHO
