Is Portland a good place to live in?

Where is a good place to live in Portland with a dog?

  • I may be moving to Portland, I've never been there before. I am looking to live in a neighborhood with some green nearby, parks, forest etc. Also I have a small dog so I would like to have places to walk him to and maybe a dog park near. Price is not an issue. What are some nice spots to live in Portland?

  • Answer:

If price is not an issue, check out a nicer area like * Laurelhurst * Council Crest * Mount Tabor * Hawthorne * Healy Heights * Forest Park * Eastmoreland * Sellwood * Concordia I listed these roughly in order of descending general attractiveness for my personal taste. Each area has many advantages and disadvantages over the others. For example, Laurelhurst has scenic parks, is located nicely close-in, has many nice upscale houses, but they are mostly over 80 years old. Council Crest has many homes built since 1980, but road access isn't quite as good as east Portland. Forest Park has plenty of parkland and hills, but little parking, and it's hard to get in and out to, say Beaverton.
