Where to go camping?

Where in Oregon should I go camping and fishing?

  • Hello! My boyfriend has never gone camping, and I wanted to show him Oregon in all of its splendor! I used to camp as a kid, but don't remember any of the sites that we went to! So: where do YOU reccomend we go camping? We're looking for a beautiful place where we can experience the beauty of Oregon and perhaps do some fishing! Also, if there are any events (like festivals of sorts) going on, we'd love to go to that, too! Any and ALL of your suggestions (and camping stories) are greatly appreciated!

  • Answer:

Here are a few of my favorite places in Northwest Oregon Timothy Lake is up past Mt. Hood and very relaxing but my husband never has much luck with fishing. It has a nice trail around the lake for hike or bike ride. Little Crater lake is about 15 minute from there. It is a very deep, very clear lake the size of a pond. Trillium lake is also up by Mt. Hood it is also very pretty and my uncle loves fishing there in the summer. There a lot of place on the Oregon coast but most you need to make reservations months in advance unless you go in the middle of the week and plan to leave before the weekend. Also the are a lot of nice campground on the Clackamas river past Estacada. At the end of July Estacada has a summer celebration and has some rafting events that take place along the Clackamas. Make sure when you go to bring stuff for smores because no camping trip is complete without them. Have fun!
