Is moving from Phoenix to Philly a good idea?

What do I need to know/do before moving to Phoenix (or anywhere) in a years time?

  • I'm planning on moving from northern IL to Phoenix in a year to finish school. This August I will be spending a week out there to visit some schools and decide if I really want to live there and go to school there. If all things work out, I will be moving next summer. What should I start doing (other than saving money) to prepare for the move? I was thinking of looking at a few places currently for rent to get an idea of what area I would like to live in and how much it would cost. Any other ideas? Any good advice would help, since I have never moved before. If there any suggestions for things to do for fun out there, let me know, too!

    In a similar situation. In the process of moving from the Midwest to the Phoenix area. As far as the cost of living, apartments tend to be somewhat affordable around $400-$500 rent per month. Check out Glendale. Seems like the nicest place to live other than Scottsdale which would be really expensive.
