What are the best suburbs in around Phoenix Area?

So we're looking for a condo, apartment or house around Phoenix area. My husband's job is in downtown Phoenix, but we don't want to live in downtown but not far that way he doesn't have to drive far. So what are the best suburbs around downtown area. He drives and doesn't mind driving for 30 mins, so help. We're moving from San Francisco and have no idea what are the best neighborhood for children and family. We want a very save, quiet and family friendly neighborhood not to far from downtown phoenix. We're expecting our first child so it has to be children friendly. PLEASE HELP... Thank you

Gilbert is ok but you should really look at Chandler and Tempe. Chandler would be good for you with the baby on the way. You need a realtor to find the best deal is this buyers' market.

If your husband doesnt mind driving a bit then I highly recommend Anthem, just north of Phoenix. It is simply the best place to raise a family and it is very safe!

Gilbert, Arizona is a great place. Its just east of phoenix and its a great town to raise a family in. Here is the Wikipedia page on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert,_Arizona . It has a the lowest crime out of any city in the PHX metro area. O and definitely stay away from south Phoenix and South Tempe those parts are like the worst place to live in Arizona.
