How much does it take from Phoenix to Grand Canyon?

  • We are currently in Phoenix and we need to go to Grand Canyon so someone please post me how long it takes to go there from Phoenix and post me some great details.

    I agree with Jess. However I seldom drive straight there without stopping someplace. Therefore it takes me about 4-5 hours. However if you really want to experience the Grand Canyon do not go to the South Rim like all the other tourist. Go to the North Rim. It is much quieter. You can stand there and meditate (you will never be able to do so at the South rim). The drive to the North rim will take 5-8 hours.

From Phoenix to the Grand Canyon Nation Park its approx. 229 miles, estimated driving time without stops would be about 3.5 hours. Hope this helps :)

OK, we have a summer home in Williams, which is at I-40 and St Rt 64, the road that leads you straight north to the south rim main entrance. From the north side of Phoenix, it takes us 2.5 hours to reach Williams. From Williams, depending on traffic, it will take you at least 1 hour to the entrance of the GC.... However, a great deal depends on where your hotel is in the city. Show my start point as I-17 and the Loop 101. If you have additional questions, don't hesitate to email me at my yahoo account.
