Is Southwest Philly a safe area to live?

Young, fun, safe, area to live in Phoenix area? Mid-twenties, professional?

  • Where is the young, fun, nice, middle class area of the Phoenix. I'm considering an opportunity in Phoenix and would like to look at home prices, but I can't decide what community to consider. Is there a somewhat safe downtown area in any of the Phoenix area cites?

    I live about 15 minutes north of downtown phoenix. The downtown area is very expensive to live. Stay west of the I17 freeway, in the avenue areas. The east of the freeway is not safe. Also stay north of Peoria Avenue. I have lived in a few places, and live in the safest area now, that is good to walk around at night. Housing is still expensive, like 200+, but also there are many new home communities popping up, my boyfriend and I looked for houses in Laveen and Waddell, a bit farther west, and they roughly start at 120 k.

The Biltmore area - near 24th Street and Camelback - is a fun area, young, quite close to downtown, and near what will soon be the light rail. I'd look around there. Downtown is starting to boom, too, if you are looking at condos.
