Some questions re: life in rural Arizona?

  • I'm looking at moving to rural Arizona to work/live on a cattle ranch. This would be about two hours NW of Phoenix. If you live there, or have lived there (anywhere in the vicinity), can you give me some idea of what it's like? What kind of animals/insects should I be aware of that could be potentially dangerous? How much bad weather can I expect (ie: tornadoes)? Thanks, and anything else you can offer for info is appreciated. (This is also posted in Society and Culture)

I answered the other one too, but I wanted to add some further information. I believe there is water restriction; people are encouraged to use desert plants and such for their lawns, rather than water-hungry grass. There also is a great deal of Native American culture; in that area, you wouldn't be far from the Grand Canyon, you know. The most interesting thing I remember from the few times I have been there, though, is the number of California residents who were crossing the border just to buy the powerball lottery tickets, lol. 8 Track Mind is really the one to answer this question, since he lives in the Phoenix area. Email him; I'm sure he'll be happy to answer any questions. :)
