House Music Clubs in Philadelphia?

  • I am coming to Philadelphia during Columbus Day weekend and my group wants to go to a House Music Club while we are there. Where are some of the House Music Clubs in and around Philly? We are looking for places that play classic house, deep house grooves, or have a R&B/neo-soul beat to it -- not the places that play trance or electronic (European) music. We most likely be looking to party Saturday Night and driving so location is not a problem. Also, give us some of the "local" cool places, not the glamourous (i.e., overly expensive) spots.

    My friends Nikos and Venus do a house night at this place called the "Mansion" on Saturday nights. The Mansion is located at 18th and Sansom Sts., right smack downtown. Sunday, IMO, is a better day/night to hear house. There is an all afternoon party at the Bubblehouse (34th & Sansom Sts, University City, West Philly) with an after party immediately following at Swanky Bubbles (Front & Market Sts, Old City).
