I AM DRIVING FROM NORTHERN VIRGINIA AND I NEED TO GET TO 1513 W Passyunk Ave Philadelphia, PA 19145. I WOULD LIKE TO AVOID DRIVING IN THE CITY!!!!! I Usually drive in the subburbs and city drving is diffcult to me. It would be great to park in a mall or something. and take a bus into the city TO Broad Street/ Patterson Ave. Some plac where I can park for a few hours.

Answer:
Passyunk Ave isn't really that bad. You get to it right off of route 76 (the Schuylkill Expressway). It is a wide street with lots of free parking on and right off of it. There are some shopping centers along the street where you can park easily and walk to your destination if you have to, it's not a very long street. It is not deep in the heart of the city where there is terrible traffic congestion. It would really be more trouble that it is worth to park the car in some suburb and take the bus or some other means of transportation. Public transportation from the suburbs to the city isn't very good and you'd probably have to transfer at least once (especially if you are coming to the city as far away as King of Prussia). So if you are driving all the way from Virginia, drive the whole way to your destination. I promise it won't be that bad. I'm on the expressway every day and Passyunk Ave pretty often.

Your best bet would be in King of Prussia mall, it being the closest mall that looks half-way decent! All you have to do is park there then either catch I think the 124 to 69th street terminal. Then the market-frankford line EL to your street number. Or the 125 which goes straight into center city! I do it all the time! Good luck.
actually i would leave my car in Delaware county which is south east of philly. since u are coming from virgina exit I-95 at the ridley park exit. make a left onto chester pike. once u go under the train tracks make a right. ther u can park ur car and take a train into the city of philadelphia.

Your best bet is to check out septa.org the local mass transit website. You may want to check out the regional rail lines. You could park at most of the train stations, take the train into downtown, and walk or take the bus to your final destination.

I live in the suburbs just south of the city and commute daily. South Philly traffic really isn't bad at all. I park for free at the intersection of Broad & Oregon streets. Your destination is just a couple of minutes walk from there.

This sounds complicated, but it is really the easiest and safest way to avoid the city and other hassles with taking buses and crap. The following route will take you about 40 minutes in total. If you were to take a bus, you'd be looking at about an hour and a half. 1. Park at Home Properties of Bryn Mawr ADDRESS: 105 Charles Drive, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 This is an apartment complex in the suburbs right on the upscale Main Line. There are a bunch of parking lots to park in. They do not require any type of permit or anything like that. Most of the residents are college students who go to Villanova, so it is a very safe area. It is right next to the train station, too, so you don't have to worry about taking buses or walking anywhere. 2. Take the 100 Train to 69th St Station The 100 train stop (Rosemont) is literally right behind the apartment complex just mentioned. It is steps away from the corner of S Roberts Rd & David Dr. Make sure you get on the train heading towards 69th Street Station (you have to walk under the bridge). It is $2 to get to 69th Street Station. At 69th Street Station, you want to buy 3 tokens from the token machines. This will cost you $4.20. Don't use any bills larger than $5 or you will end up with unwanted tokens. You want to then take the Market-Frankford line (blue on the SEPTA map) 3. Take the Market-Frankford Line from 69th Street to 15th/City Hall Stop At this stop, you want to switch over to the Broad Street Line heading South towards Pattison. There is free interchange from the Market-Frankford to the Broad Street Line (orange on the SEPTA map). 4. Take the Broad Street Line to the Snyder Ave stop This is a block and a half west of the address you listed above. To get back, you can use your two extra tokens. One token for the Broad Street Line (take from Snyder to City Hall, then transfer to blue line towards 69th), then the other token for the 100 train (from 69th St to Rosemont). Look at the map below for further guidance.
