What would you recommend seeing/doing/eating while visiting Gettysburg, PA?

My husband & I are taking a "kid-free" 4 day trip to Gettysburg at the end of July/early august. Aside from the Battlefield, what would be " the one thing not too miss" ?? I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!!!

There really isn't a great deal of things to do in the immediate area that doesn't revolve around the battle. There are the battlefield tours, the museums, and of course the ghost tours/walks. You have to sign up for these a few days in advance because they fill up quick. It's a must see/do when in Gettysburg! They also offer carriage rides through town. When you arrive go to the Jennie Wade gift shop that's where they offer many many tours/bus tours/ghost tours. They have a trolley tour that we did once through there that was neat. These two give good ghost tours too: http://www.farnsworthhouseinn.com/ http://www.ghostsofgettysburg.com/ Downtown is nice to walk around, there are many shops. A great restaurant there is The Dobbin House. Land of the little horses is near by, but i don't think that is something you and your husband would want to see, lol. Not TOO far away is the Lancaster Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, about 2 or so hours, they do a buffet dinner & a show. Until the end of July is Singing in the rain, I think Wedding Singer is after that. There is McDuffer (spelling?) mini golf on rt 97 heading out of gettysburg toward the new visitor's center, there is also the outlets which is on rt 97 past the mini golf and visitor's center. Boyd's Bear country as well, maybe you want to pick your kids something up? Thats all I can think of right now :)

Since your going to Gettysburg the battlefield is a must see, try seeing the battlefield in ways other than driving around, try walking, biking, and riding horses, this is the way me and my wife see the battlefield, its easy and we get to talk to each other more. As for the one thing not to miss i would go to the winery about 20 min west of town really good wine and they have wine tasting, another thing you can try to do is go on a ghost tour you cant walk five feet without running into one they offer interesting stories. It is beautiful country out there try getting out of town and taking a drive.

Definitely the ghost tour. 4 days in Gettysburg itself seems like too much.
