What is the best "normal and cheap" thrift shop in London?

Would a thrift or resale shop do well in University City?

  • I am working with a woman who plans on opening a thrift store. I am pushing for Uni City because I think the younger, hipper crowd would patron a thrift store more than the older but poorer population in far-west philly. Would a thrift shop suceed or fail?

  • Answer:

I honestly don't think it will do well in University City. The two universities in University City, Penn and Drexel, aren't teaming with the type of students who patronize a thrift store. Resale shops tend to draw in older and poorer people. You don't see young, hip people in a resale shop.

i would think so because of the large population of penn, drexel and west philadelphia, just don't charge to much because people will think it is cheaper to buy "new"

Bolt Thrower

It depends on what you mean by a thrift. If you are think about consignment of trendier, higer end items (see: Buffalo Exchange) I think it would do well because there are three universities (Penn, Drexel and Univ of the Sci.) and because there are a LOT of people under 40 living, studying and working there. I'm guessing the first 2 responders aren't big shoppers...
