How would I get to New York from Philadelphia on a train?

What is my best option for trains to get from New York to Philadelphia?

  • I need to get from Penn Station (New York) to Philadelphia and transfer to Ridley Park or Prospect Park. I'm not sure what train I should take..any help?

  • Answer:

Your train options into Philly are Amtrak (which is expensive) or take the NJ Transit train to Trenton and switch to the SEPTA train into Center City (takes forever). Better option, take the Bolt Bus from 34th and 8th in New York to 30th and Market in Philadelphia. Bolt Bus is only 2 hours and costs anywhere from $12-$15 each way. There cross the street into the train station and catch the R2 train to Ridley Park. www.boltbus.com www.septa.org

Other answers

Take Amtrak from Penn Station to 30th ST station in Philly. Then transfer to the Septa R2. It makes stops at both Prospect Park and Ridley Park. I've taken this route many times while living in NYC and visiting my family in Delco
