What is the suburbs of philadelphia?

Good suburbs around philadelphia?

  • I am looking to live in the Philadelphia area and not in the city, in the suburbs. I want the suburbs to have parks, baseball fields, and not a high crimerate. It would also be good for them to have developements or culdesacs. The closer to the city the better. My job is a pharmacist and i am not married

  • Answer:

Most places in Montgomery County (except Norristown) would be a good choice. I would pick someplace close to the regional rail service, thus on the eastern end of Montgomery County, I would choose Cheltenham or Jenkintown for good train service. On the Main Line, go with towns such as Ardmore or Paoli, which have service on the R5 regional rail.

South Jersey is a very nice place to live. Much of the things you mention can be found in South Jersey suburbs in Gloucester and Camden county. To commute to Philly, it's about a 30-45 min drive; it all depends on the bridges. I lived in South Jersey for 20 years and I am a frequent Philly visitor.

i live in south jersey its not a bad commute if your willing to drive 15-30 min.

Anywhere in Montgomery County except Norristown (crime, low-income). Most places in Bucks except Bristol, Croydon and Levittown. Certain areas of Delco County except Darby, Upper Darby, Folcroft, Chester and Collingdale. (With Chester, and the Darby's being high crime). South Jersey for the most part is also a very comfortable place to living; though the driving from place to place can be quite a hassle at times, as things are seperated. Chester County which is somewhat of a distance from Philadelphia also is very nice. Best choice: Montgomery County.

I would recommend bucks or montgomery county some places in bucks county such as Feasterville,Bensalem,Trevose,Warrington are neither expensive, nor far away from philadelphia. Northeast philadelphia is the residental part of philadelphia it is not the "city" though it is in philadelphia. Not too expensive or shabby [some places in NE are]

I love Fox Chase. It's a neighborhood in Philadelphia, but it's nothing like Center City. There are shops, playgrounds, and a commuter rail. The houses are close together, but the neighborhoods my family live in come with 1/4-1/2 acre of land.

How about Fishtown? Nice housing, low crime rate and close to parks, ball fields. Also, it isn't far from downtown/center city so you don't have to drive everyday... just use public transportation
