Is SEPTA safe at night?

Septa, NYC/Newark to Philly & Back?

  • I'll be living in NY this summer and want to take a train to Philly one Thursday night for a concert. I've heard about the Septa train from Philly to parts of Jersey, close to Newark maybe, that's really cheap? I really don't know anything about this, I'm not from up north, and I'm having quite the time trying to figure this out on their website. http://www.septa.org/index.html Can anyone explain to me how this works (where I can get on this train in NJ, and if I'll have to take another train, or the PATH or just a cab to get to the NJ station from NYC...? Please? Anything would help! Thanks!

  • Answer:

From NYC/Newark you will take the NJ transit train, NEC, to Trenton. Then from Trenton you can take the Septa R7 train to Philly. Check the NEC schedule & the R7 schedule to make sure it runs late enough & how long you will wait in between trains. I used to go to NYC from Philly this way. Goodluck!

your best bet might be to take nj transit (from Penn station) to trenton, then transfer to the septa train in trenton -- i think it's the R3. that train will take you to all the way to center city philadelphia and a bit beyond.
