South Philadelphia anyone lived there...? before or still does? I might be moving there help!!!?

    Don't know where you are moving from, but here's my perspective: South Philly is not exactly a young-people's hip shopping and socializing mecca. Remember, the big draw of Philly is its history. Some parts of South Philadelphia are very - modest. A lot of what used to be the tax base is not there any more. I am sure you will be able to find some Italian neighborhoods that you will like - but the rest of the city might take some getting used to.

I used to live in South Philly. It changes block by block; for example, I'd never walk down 5th St. near Washington, but would walk down 6th St. It's a changing area; near the Italian market is becoming Little Saigon (although I hear a really great Vietnamese restaurant just closed). Stay to the east side of Broad St. and look around. Good luck!
