Do a lot of Italians live in PA, especially in Philly and Pittsburg, and do a lot live in Chicago, IL?

Question for full-blooded Italians in the USA I say this because I've seen them in Pennsylvania. I was thinking about George Thorogood's song "Bad to the Bone" the other day, and I noticed that an Italian man that was in the video was from Phily. And Rocky is also from Phily. I know the not are not as much Italians in PA as New York or Jersey, but I've ssen some in PA. I love the Southern US too (while you're at, tell me watch you think of that)!

Answer:
I'm half Italian myself and from Southwest Philadelphia ,My great grandmother was an Italian immigrant in the early 1900's. South Philadelphia use to be predominately Italian .. Nowadays even though there is still a pretty good Italian population in some parts , most have moved to Jersey, and the surrounding counties.

South Philadelphia used to be predominantly Italian. But many have moved over to Gloucester County, NJ. Even the Italian Market area has a lot of Mexican and Asian shops now. Pittsburgh has a small Italian neighborhood, Bloomfield. A few old industrial towns upstate have Italian neighborhoods because in the early 20th century, factory owners would literally wait at the dock for boats coming in from Italy and gove newly arrived Italian immigrants jobs as soon as they cleared Ellis Island. And I'm sure Chicago has a high Italian population too, as its known for its pizza.

Well i'm obviously not Italian but I do know if you go to South Philly that area is predominantly Italian. I know this because my mother used to work in that area.

Philadelphia still has many people of Italian descent. A good number are concentrated in "deep South Philadelphia". But, like other immigrant groups as people became more successful they moved to South Jersey, Montgomery and Delaware Counties. Pittsburgh's Bloomfield neighborhood still has a decent sized Italian community. As with Phila, people moved to the suburbs. Towns like Aliquippa (north of Pittsburgh) and Monessen (south of Pittsburgh) had large numbers of Italians who worked in the mills. Since the great migration from Italy to the US occurred from the late 1880's until about 1920, there are at least three generations since people were picked up on arrival and sent to the mills and mines for work.
