Where to live in Philadelphia?

Where to live in Philadelphia, PA?

• I am a 24 year old, single, white male that currently lives in Atlanta, GA and will be relocating very soon to Philadelphia, PA for my job. I will be working from home so I have a lot of flexibility in where I choose to live, the primary criteria being that I am very accessible to the airport. I don't have to be right downtown, but then again I do not want to be way out in the country. Also I want a SAFE area. I am only looking at apartments for the time being until I decide if I like PA. That being said, I could really use some suggestions on where to live around Philadelphia (only in PA though). If anyone could suggest specific towns or even apartment complexes it would be great. The more specific the better! Thanks!

  I am from Philly and there are tons of options for you in and around the city but it mostly depends on what you can afford per month? Being 24 you'd want to be within a 5-10 miles radius of City Hall. Downtown will cost you no less than $1,000+, i.e. Old City, Northern Liberties but there are emerging areas that are more affordable, i.e. Fishtown, Graduate Hospital. Also, if you have a car, you need to consider parking as the closer to downtown you get, you'll NEED a dedicated parking spot to come with your apartment or it will cost you a small fortune to get one on your own. Have you heard of or considered Manayunk? It's a bit West of the city (about 10 mins.), a great little town .. mostly new college grads and great nightlife, resteraunts, etc. and I think it's less expensive than downtown (a lot of old private homes to rent and some newer rental developements as well).
