Things to do around the Philadelphia Airport.?

  • My family and I are taking a trip south in February. Our flight leaves on a Saturday, and we're spending a night in Philadelphia right by the airport. Are there any attractions near the airport that are easy to walk to?

  • Answer:

    Air terminals, motels and industrial sites. But... youi can catch a quick train ride to center City Philadelphia and visit all of the usual touristy stuff like independence hall. The only attraction even slightly close to the airport is Fort Mifflin, and you can't walk there.

Nothing around the airport of much interest, but you could take the train from the airport to downtown if you wanted to see the sights there.

The airport is built on reclaimed swampland by the Delaware River. There are some hotels nearby, but not much in terms of things to do. And walking in that area wouldn't be practical as there are no sidewalks and cars whiz by at some obnoxious speeds. Take the train or bus into Center City where you can a lot more to do. The staff at your hotel should be able to tell you the easiest way to get there from the hotel.

N-O-T-H-I-N-G. There are airport hotels around there, airport hotel bars, and the airport itself...that's it. The SEPTA R1 Regional Rail line goes to 30th Street Station, which is very central in Center City and a good spot to start from and check out places within the city. You could also try a cab, but the ride will be $27 each way, flat fee (without the tip). You'd be better off trying to rent a cheap car for a few hours and driving into the city for dinner.

You could try taking a cab to Chickie & Pete's in South Philly (get the crab fries). It's right near the stadiums (Phillies, Eagles etc) which would be cool to see. Should be alot of cabs around to flag down to get back. Otherwise, train it into center city.
