Good High Schools in Philadelphia?

Is there any good schools in Philadelphia?

  • My Family and I are planning to move to Philadelphia...the northeast part, and i was wondering if they had any good high schools and elementary schools.

  • Answer:

You should look into the "magnet" schools. These are high performing academic programs - most with specialty focus like Science, Art, etc. Check: Masterman, Central, Girls High, Bodine, Carver

Well I'm not from the Northeast I'm from Wynnefield (West Philly) My father is A graduate of Masterman. The top public school in Philly. My best friend is a senior Carver High and my cousin is a senior at Central. And I have a friend at Creating and Performing Arts (CAPA). But I attended a catholic school.Everyone doesn't have the money but if you do then it's best to send your child to a private school.Because the odds of getting in the magnet schools are crazy unless you are the cream of the crop. Here's the school I attended. It's located in center city.So it's easy for anyone to get there by public transportation. http://www.jwhallahan.com Yes, it's catholic and yes it is all girls but that school is like a second home to me.Especially since you'll be moving this is probably the best place for someone like yourself no cliques, little drama.Just a bunch of young women ready to show the world what they have. It's also diverse. So you won't see a whole bunch of one race. It's a great school. Here's a catholic coed high school in NE http://www.archbishopryan.com/ *if you need more info then contact me at [email protected] Good Luck

Northeast High is a really good school. Washington High isn't bad and has a good variety of classes, but that's far northeast and there are sometimes behavioral problems. Both schools are huge, btw, lol. And I gotta advertise Central (www.centralhigh.net). It's not in the Northeast, but it's in Olney and really easy to get to from the northeast (one bus or a short car ride and you're there!). It's the best public high school in Philly and one of the best in the state. There are also a bunch of good schools that are outside of the Northeast. I don't know how schooling works where you're from, but in Philly, you don't have to live in a particular area of the city to attend a certain school. You can live anywhere and go anywhere in the city. :) Hope that helped! P.S. - If you have any other questions about Philly or Philly schools, you can e-mail me at [email protected]. :)

I do not want to be bies, but if you want a good education go to Council rock north in Newtown PA. It is about 20-30 mins away and as much as people hate the area or school they have everything here as you would find in Philly, but not the lime life.

Masterman (as someone else eluded to) was just ranked in the top 100 charter schools in the country...#53 I think. They also accept everyone from within Philly's City Limits I'm pretty sure.
