Is South Philly safe?

Looking for a safe place to stay in Philly, but reasonable.?

  • We are looking for a place to stay in Philly that in a safe area. We are doing a lot of the touristy stuff, like the Liberty Bell, and the Mutter Museum so downtown may be the best. How is it from the river to North 21st street and from Vine Street down to South Street? This is the area marked Downtown by priceline. If we stay further out, how expensive is it to park? Thanks!

  • Answer:

Try the Club Quarters. The rooms run a bit small but the price and the location can't be beat. Rooms often run less than $150/nt...much less than most downtown hotels. Its located at 17th and Chestnut Sts in the heart of center city. Parking will likely be an issue but you can probably get a discount through the hotel. You can walk to many sites including the Mutter Museum (22nd St), the Franklin Institute (20th St) and City Hall (Broad St, its where 14th would be). Its also in the midst of good shopping and restaurants. Check out more info on the city: http://www.GoPhila.com/

my fiance' says what priceline said is good. But if you want convenience you have to pay for it. hopefully this is helpful.

You'll be better off staying outside the city and using Septa to go into the city. City prices are expensive, look around Bensalem, its close to the R7 line which takes you into Center City for $5.

the best deal with few perks but clean and not outragthe Comfort Inn down by the Delaware River. Also I went to a conference at the holiday inn on arch and 4th street that was nice but also over 125 dollars. the previous response about Bensalem was a good one, you might also consider staying in the northeast SEPTA has the rt 14 bus that goes right by the Lincoln Inn recently Renovated rooms are roughly 60 per night about an hour from downtown Philadelphia.

University city Shareton hotel. I stayed there last month and it was cheap and very nice.
