Where is the best area to stay in Philadelphia?

What part of Philadelphia is it best to stay downtown or Historic?

  • I am going to Philadelphia this weekend with my best friend as we both just need a getaway... We are in our mid 20's and wondering where is the best part of town to stay. We both work in the hotel industry and have an offer of a hotel in Downtown area or Historic area, also will take any suggestions on what to do while there. Thanks! :)

    If you're more interested in seeing the tourist sites (Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house, etc.) then it would be better to stay in the historic district. You'll be able to walk to all the sites and lots of restaurants. If you're more interested in shopping and skyscrapers, stay downtown. There are a lot of museums and restaurants downtown. The two areas are really not far from each other, so no matter what you pick, you'll probably have plenty of time to spend in both areas anyway.

I'd rather suggest you stay in the historic site. since downtown area is more or less alike throughout the nation, if you miss this one, you can make it up with another, but history is unique and can't be copied. in no other place in the nation can you see Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house. besides, history is not the only themed of this district, or that you make you feel bored. there are also some old buildings and neighborhoods. so you can learn a little history and a little architecture, and enjoy great fun. besides, if you want to go to the downtown area, it's quite easy, not too far away. anyway, the two seem no big difference, but if you need to choose ONE out, i recommend historic sites. hope this will help a lot if you need more info about Philadelphia travel, i find the following links give much info: http://www.philadelphia-hotels-pa.com/travel http://www.philadelphia-hotels-pa.com/hotels-travel/philadelphia-weather.html
