Is philadelphia safe? What places should I stay out of?

  • Hi so in a few months I'm going to philadelphia, pennsylvania to look at colleges with my dad. I've heard people say its safe and then I've heard people say its not safe. I've lived in downtown LA my whole life so I know where I should and where I shouldn't go. I know all cities have certain areas to go to and areas to stay away from. Well I was just wondering what are the more safer areas in philadelphia? and what should we steer clear from?

    A lot of North Philadelphia is unsafe (so you should take this into consideration if you visit Temple). There are also many sections of West Philadelphia (once you get north/west of Drexel and the other colleges in the area) that are unsafe. I hope this information was very helpful.

All the college campuses are safe. If you are traveling with your dad, then you should be fine. If you've lived in LA then you'll know exactly what to look for to know if an area is safe. Philly is no worse than LA.
