Traveling to Philly, advice on what to see?
-
My girlfriend and I are traveling to Philadelphia next Tuesday. What are interesting places to see? We plan on going to some historical places, of course, but I wanted to see some unique places and areas around philly...possibly something I wouldn't see in any other city. Also, is it true that going to South Street after dark gets a little dangerous? Thanks!

Answer:
*See the historical sites - Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house, Franklin's grave, etc. *Art museum (with the Rocky steps and statue) *Take a Duck tour - it goes in the river and through the streets to show the major sites of the city *South Street is pretty cool, even at night. Just stick to the poulated areas and use some common sense and you'll be fine *Penn's Landing *Boathouse Row *Mutter Museum (human anomolies - very cool) *Eastern State Penitentiary museum (Capone is probably the most famous inmate, but there are many others; they do really cool tours of it now, regular tours during the day and haunted tours at night)

Check out the mutter museum South street is safe as anywhere else & fun at night, but be weary of wandering down any parallel streets for too long. Stop in Tattoo'd Mom's and have a beer upstairs in a old amusment park car

Start with the Liberty Bell (between 5th & 6th, Market & Chestnut). Ask the guards for their oppinion on zig-zag around that area but, working your way to "Dirty Franks Bar" (near 13th and Pine St.). Thats a safe route after dark. Ask the locals in Franks for Subways or Bus' from there.
