What are the best things to do in Philadelphia?

  • My family and I are planning to go there soon for a one day trip we live in ny and were leaving early in the morning and returning late at night so only one day and we dont really know what is there to do... i asked some friends they said just dont go to the liberty bell so not gonna go there but definitely want to go to the museum of art. anyways whats there to do?

  • Answer:

I should think your family would want to do the whole history thing, including the bell, and at least glance at the building where the Declaration of Independence was signed! But if important things like that aren't your thing, I'll give you a list of other ideas. By the way, in my opinion, the Phila. Museum of Art takes at least a day. I can't imagine paying all of that money to only be there for a short time, then walk away from everything I missed. Do you realize that it's enormous? Anyway, have fun and check out these: Wagner Free Institute of Science (not exactly free) http://www.wagnerfreeinstitute.org/ Rosenbach museum (especially if you like Maurice sendak) http://www.rosenbach.org/home/home.html Rodin Museum http://www.rodinmuseum.org/ Bartram's Garden http://www.bartramsgarden.org/informatio%E2%80%A6 Tour City Hall. Ride the Ducks. Check out the Textile Museum (sorry, can't find the link). Tour Citizens Bank park. Go to Adventure Aquarium. http://adventureaquarium2.reachlocal.net%E2%80%A6 Visit the Edgar Allen Poe House http://www.nps.gov/edal/index.htm And don't miss America's first zoo, celebrating its 150th anniversary... http://www.philadelphiazoo.org/

well, there's the liberty bell, even though you don't want to go there.. then you have independence hall, the franklin institute, boathouse row, the art museum (rocky statue), etc.. there's also south street which has plenty of restaurants and stores, etc.. south street leads you to penn's landing and you could take a ferry across the river to new jersey and go to the camden aquarium as well.. don't forget while you're in philly, you have to grab a cheese steak from pat's or geno's!!.. that's a philly tradition :o) have fun and enjoy your trip to philly!

Why wouldn't you go to the Liberty Bell? I live here and I've been there many times. It's free too. Then after you are done visiting the Bell, go across the street and go for a ride on Ride The Ducks. It will take you on a crazy tour around the city, and also in the water using their amphibious tour buses - they give you plastic "quacking whistles" that your kids will love - they look like duck beaks. It's great for kids! Then take a cab over to the Natural History Museum, Franklin Institute, and Art Museum. And top off your night by eating at Max Brenner's Chocolate Restaurant located at 15th and Walnut Sts. Do a little shopping on Walnut and Chestnut Sts. when you finish eating. That will completely fill your day!

I would recommend going on a sight-seeing tour. You can see most of the highlights, plus if you see something on the tour you'd like to see in more detail, you can. Go to lunch at the Reading Terminal Market. Lots of places to eat.

Maybe I'm Amazed

You should visit the Philadelphia Art museum which is one of the greatest museums in the world, The independence national historical Park where the famous Liberty Bell is also found and the Valley Forge(which is already outside Philadelphia).

Go to the Gallery. Its a really big partially underground mall. Check it out!
