What are the best things to do in philly?

  • My friends and I are going to philly saturday and were in college so we like to have fun/shop/eat great food...... with that said....what is the best thing to do....I saw the italian market that is on like a whole street...is that worth going to? is capogiro gelato worth going to? what are some great historic things to visit besides the liberty bell? just everything that is great in philly, we want to visit! thanks!!

  • Answer:

Philly is a cool city to visit, dont listen to that girl. For sites you should go to the Liberty bell, the constitution center, Betsy Ross House, Elfreth's Alley, Art museum(atleast the outside steps) and more.. There are tours that you can take if you'd like. I think the Italian Market is a cool experience & it is close to center city. Go to 9th & Passyunk & eat a cheesesteak from Pat's. Its the original & the best I think. South street is a crazy/cool place for young people to go shop, eat, drink & hangout. & you make it to the end of South Street, cross a bridge & go to the waterfront :)

I agree with everything Bebe said! You and your friends could even do a taste test between Pat's and Geno's, which is right across the street. If anyone's into art, there's also a Rodin museum just down the street from the Philly Art Museum (the one with the "Rocky steps"). Franklin Science Institute has some cool things too; the last time I was there, they had a butterfly habitat AND an exhibit about chocolate! Use the Philly Phlash, a purple bus to get around the downtown tourist area, and for just a few dollars you can hop on and off all day. Google "Philadelphia events" along with the date you're going to be there, and you'll get an updated list of events.

Philly is a awesome city. There are tons of things to see and do, the zoo is pretty nice, go see the liberty bell, and get yourself a real philly cheese steak. If you like sports and food try Chickie's and pete's sports bar, across from the sports complex, they have awesome crab fries.

I always tell people to start with the Liberty Bell. Then ask the guard at "the bell" to advise you from there (depending on your free time and such). Your question is hard to answer because there is too much to see in Philadelphia (History/Shopping etc.)

just leave me your email address because i want a phillycheese steak. jk. go see gettysburg. it was pretty cool

Meh!

STAY AWAY FROM THE ITALIAN MARKET. They shouldn't even call it that any more. There's 1 Italian place there now. South St. is always good though it's a lot lamer nowadays. Philly's a bore really and a lot of the neighborhoods are bad. Here are some recommendations (all in the Center City area): Edgar Allan Poe House Trocadero Theatre Geno's Steaks Lorenzo's Pizza (on South St.) Copa Banana's (or something like that, on South St. next to the Theatre of Living Arts) Academy Of Natural Sciences Franklin Institute (right next to Acad.) The Art Museum (sorry, they took the Rocky statue down... Art snobs...) Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (if you've got serious cash) Hard Rock Cafe (around the corner from Ruth's) JC Dobbs (rock club on South)

you can get on the turnpike and travel about 6hrs west to pittsburgh. the only half decent thing near philly is king of prussia mall. the city is a dump. visit the liberty bell and independence hall, but be sure to get the hell out before it gets dark.
