Is Philadelphia safe for my family?

Is it safe for a young Lady to drive alone from Philadelphia airport to Delaware?

  • I need to get to delaware but since they have no flights going in to delaware i need to take a flight to philadelphia then drive down to delaware but i have heard so many horror stories about how horrible philadelphia is and i have never been there and i would need to take a rental car i am 23 and i just need some feedback. What is it like which airport should i land on and which route is best to getting in t the state of Delaware,is it safe to drive down from philadelphia airport to delaware alone most likely at night ? My flight gets there at night time if i decide to go through philadelphia since is closer, any advice thanks!

    Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is your only airport option. It's right off I-95, and you won't even have to drive through Philly to get to Delaware as much of the airport is in Delaware County. The signs to the interstates in the airport area are well marked. From the airport going south on I-95 it is 12 miles to the state line. It is extremely safe.

Yes. Folks do it everyday. Aside from drunk drivers,traffic & speed traps there are no special issues. You roll out the rental car places at the Airport & on to I-95 south. The Delaware border is about 10 mins away. You don't go through the city at all.

The horror stories you've heard are probably from people who got their impression of Philly from sensationalized "news" reports, not actual experience. 1.5 million people choose to make Philly home and many of them actually like it. Aside from driving that's probably more aggressive than what you're used to, you shouldn't have any problem. Just ignore people that honk.

I guess the trolls on the interstate will jump up and get you. Look at a map, it's all highway. But Delaware has lots more crappy neighborhoods that the City does. Maybe you should just stay at the airport
